Glasses with a Chance of Delinquent manga confirms anime adaptation
The fun romantic comedy about an ex-delinquent and a model student confirms its move to screens.
On Thursday, April 23, publisher Kodansha officially announced that the popular shoujo manga created by Naruki, Glasses with a Chance of Delinquent (Megane Tokidoki Yankee-kun), is preparing its animated adaptation for TV. To celebrate this news, the original author shared a commemorative illustration giving the first look at how this unusual couple will appear in anime format.

The production committee is keeping details under wraps. Kodansha’s announcement didn’t reveal the animation studio, technical team, or release window. Fans will have to wait to learn which voice actors (seiyuus) will play the leads, as the cast remains a secret. For now, all visual attention is on Naruki’s expressive illustration.
The charm of an ascending shoujo romance
This series has seen steady growth. Published continuously in Bessatsu Friend since January 2021, it built a solid fanbase with its mix of comedy and sweet moments. The story currently collects 10 volumes in Japan, with volume 11 scheduled for release on May 13, showing strong serialization health as its anime debut approaches.
The secret behind the class’s perfect boy
This romantic comedy features an “opposites attract” dynamic with plenty of twists. The story follows Momose, a high school student who wants a peaceful school life away from delinquents and troublemakers.
Her peace plan fails when she interacts with Ichikura, her classmate. At first glance, he’s a quiet boy with black hair and perfect glasses—seemingly the perfect model student. However, during middle school, Ichikura was a feared delinquent. Though he swears to Momose that he’s left that life behind, his old *yankee* instincts emerge, and he resorts to fighting when needed. Now, poor Momose must keep her classmate’s noisy past a secret while undeniable chemistry develops between them.
