The true goodbye: Boku no Hero Academia reveals preview of its epilogue

If you felt the end of the eighth season left you wanting one final goodbye, your prayers have been answered. This Saturday, April 25, the official website of the animated adaptation of My Hero Academia (Boku no Hero Academia) premiered a new and emotional official trailer for its additional special episode titled “More”. This episode, officially designated as episode 170+1 of the franchise, has set its premiere for May 2, 2026, and Crunchyroll has already confirmed it will stream it worldwide on the same day as its Japanese broadcast.

The heroic voices returning for the farewell

Although the statement released by TOHO animation did not report any changes in the production staff or voice cast, the nature of this epilogue guarantees we will hear the pillars of Class 1-A once more. Ahead of the streaming premiere, here are the main talents returning to say goodbye to the halls of U.A. High School:

  • Daiki Yamashita as Izuku Midoriya.

Sakamichi Onoda in Yowamushi Pedal and Narancia Ghirga in JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Golden Wind.

  • Nobuhiko Okamoto as Katsuki Bakugo.

Rin Okumura in Blue Exorcist and Yu Nishinoya in Haikyuu!!.

  • Ayane Sakura as Ochaco Uraraka.

Gabi Braun in Attack on Titan and Yotsuba Nakano in The Quintessential Quintuplets.

  • Yuki Kaji as Shoto Todoroki.

Eren Yeager in Attack on Titan and Meliodas in The Seven Deadly Sins.

The true conclusion hidden in Volume 42

This episode is not just nostalgia-fueled filler, but completely canonical and vital to the plot. The creator Kohei Horikoshi concluded the successful shonen manga in the pages of Weekly Shonen Jump in August 2024. However, for the release of the printed Volume 42 in December of that year, the author drew 38 pages of new content. This episode will animate precisely that material, focusing on chapter 431, offering a much more solid resolution than the ending seen on television late in 2024.

What the special episode “More” is about

After the apocalyptic final war and the end of regular broadcasts, the story promised that the journey of the new generation of heroes would continue. The new trailer hints that this episode will explore the direct aftermath of the conflict, showing moments of calm, reflection, and key interactions between the students as they absorb the hard cost of peace and the future they forged with their own hands.

Beyond television, the legacy of the work will live on through the musical event “My Hero Academia in Concert”, an ambitious worldwide orchestral tour orchestrated by composer Yuki Hayashi that will begin in Japan at the end of May before visiting the United States and Europe. Without a doubt, this new animated episode will serve as the perfect farewell gift for a franchise that has already surpassed the monumental milestone of 100 million copies sold worldwide.
