Smoking Behind the Supermarket with You anime advances its release date
Asahi Production will give us the chance to have an early marathon of this quirky romantic comedy.
If you can’t stand waiting a whole week for a new episode, the streaming platform ABEMA has a spectacular surprise. To celebrate the early launch of the 12 episodes of Smoking Behind the Supermarket with You (Super no Ura de, Ya, Tabako o Suu Hanashi), the creditless versions of the opening and ending have just been released. This gem of a romance will be available in its entirety for premium users next June 3rd (Exclusive to those living in Japan), much earlier than the usual Japanese TV broadcast that starts in July.
The most interesting part of this release is that the musical themes are exclusive to the ABEMA version. The opening video features the electrifying song “Kuzuri Nen,” performed by the popular rock band ZUTOMAYO, while the ending features the catchy rhythm of “NIGHT DANCER” by artist imase. The production committee confirmed that these musical sequences will be completely different from those used in the July TV broadcast, making them a real treat for those who decide to tackle the early marathon.

Synopsis of Smoking Behind the Supermarket with You
The story presents an unusual romantic comedy focused on age difference and small moments of daily life. It centers on Yamada, a supermarket employee who has the habit of smoking behind the store after her shift, and Sasaki, a high school girl who often approaches her to chat during these brief breaks. However, things get complicated and humorous when we discover that Yamada has a secret identity and poses as a mysterious older woman named Tayama. Through their relaxed talks and casual encounters, the series explores how feelings between them slowly develop in a calm and comforting atmosphere.
Will you be doing the marathon in June on ABEMA or are you one of the purists who prefer to wait for the weekly July broadcast?
