The second season of Trapped in a Dating Sim reveals a new trailer

Breaking the system from within is the only option when fate condemns you to be a simple background character. Publisher Kadokawa officially announced this Wednesday that the second season of the popular isekai comedy Trapped in a Dating Sim: The World of Otome Games is Tough for Mobs (known in Japan as Otome Game Sekai wa Mob ni Kibishii Sekai Desu) will premiere on Japanese television during the month of July.

The announcement came with the first trailer and an impressive promotional image created by character designer Masahiko Suzuki. This new visual confirms the return of the original cast and hints at even more strategic chaos, palace intrigue, and absurd situations within this relentless virtual world.

Animation studio ENGI takes the reins of the project again, keeping the creative team that made the first season shine in 2022 intact. Kazuya Miura returns as general director, while Kenta Ihara handles the scripts again, adapting the work of author Yomu Mishima. Production has the green light to adapt the material with full creative freedom, considering the original light novel concluded its successful publication with volume 13 in March 2024.

Voice Cast

To ensure the nobility’s disputes maintain their intensity and sarcasm, the production confirmed the return of its talented seiyuus:

  • Takeo Otsuka as Leon.
World-renowned for voicing Aqua in Oshi no Ko and Jinshi in The Apothecary Diaries, he returns to play the cynical protagonist.
  • Kana Ichinose as Olivia.
The unmistakable voice behind Fern in Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End and Suletta Mercury in Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury.
  • Fairouz Ai as Angelica.
Known for her explosive energy as Power in Chainsaw Man and Jolyne Cujoh in JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Stone Ocean.
  • Ayane Sakura as Marie.
Experienced actress famous for voicing Ochako Uraraka in My Hero Academia and Gabi Braun in Shingeki no Kyojin.
  • Akira Ishida as Luxion.
A true legend in the anime industry, lending his voice to Gaara in Naruto and the fearsome Akaza in Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba.

The irreverent story follows an ordinary office worker who is reincarnated into a matriarchal dating simulator where men are treated as second-class citizens. Armed only with memories of his past life and his extensive knowledge of the game’s hidden mechanics, Leon decides to use everything to his advantage to get a quiet life in the countryside. However, his immense pragmatism and rejection of the system’s injustices end up revolutionizing the entire world.

What strategy would you use to survive if you were reincarnated as a simple background character in an extreme-difficulty otome game?
