Nothing is more dangerous in this world than crossing paths with a witch capable of erasing an entire country from the map with a single sneeze. The animated adaptation of the light novels Witch and Mercenary (Majo to Yohei) officially launched its first full trailer alongside a new promotional image, confirming that this dark fantasy and survival adventure will arrive on screens in April 2027.

The video trailer showcased the series’ tone and expanded the voice cast joining this journey. Alongside previously announced leads, Saori Hayami as the feared witch Siasha and Taito Ban as the mercenary Zig Crane, new talents join. Actress Yuri Noguchi will portray Isana Gihon, a rank-two swordsman nicknamed “Snow White,” while Hiromu Mineta will bring Alan Clows, the leader of a rank-four group, to life, and Haruka Shiraishi will embody the mysterious adventurer Elicia Armel.

Behind the scenes, animation studio 8-Bit is leading production under the direction of Shinpei Ezaki. Script supervision and writing are handled by Taishirou Tanimura with support from Shingo Irie as assistant, while Keita Matsumoto adapts the character designs for screen and leads animation direction alongside Hideki Sakai and Sorato Shimizu. The soundtrack is composed by Rei Ishizuka under Lantis label, accompanied by visual direction in art by Kazuhiro Inoue.

About Witch and Mercenary

Written by Kaeru Chohokiteki, the original story began on the digital portal Shosetsuka ni Naro between June 2021 and December 2022. Publisher Micro Magazine started releasing the work in print with illustrations by Bench Kanase in May 2023, adding a manga version illustrated by Makoto Miyagi that has been published since January 2024. The plot introduces a world where witches are feared as walking disasters capable of invoking floods or devastating entire nations overnight. Tired of constantly fighting for her life against hunters and armies, witch Siasha hires the services of Zig, a seasoned mercenary, to embark on a journey to unknown lands where she can live in peace.
