Mebius Dust anime releases main trailer, confirms July premiere

Doga Kobo brings the story of young people with superpowers trapped in a city hiding more than it seems.

The contest Project Anima has long shown that the best ideas don’t always come from the biggest studios. Mebius Dust, the third project to hit screens from that initiative, has just released its first main trailer and a new promotional image by Doga Kobo, confirming its premiere for July 9, 2026. The video reveals the season’s ending, previews the already announced opening, and introduces new cast members.

The ending is called “Dilemma” and is performed by Ai Tomioka. The opening “Mebius” is by Leo Ieiri, whose name had already been confirmed earlier and can now be heard for the first time in the trailer. Alongside the video, the team also revealed a new promotional image for the project.

The story follows three young people; Araki, his younger sister Stella, and his childhood friend Olga, who form a team called Polis Hopper and participate in a territory conquest game using supernatural abilities called Rams. Their world changes when Dra. Yuda, a Rams researcher, summons them to take part in an experiment.

Mebius Dust is based on a story by Hajime Shinagawa that won the grand prize in the “Kids/Game” category of the Project Anima contest in 2019. The plot takes place ten years after a mysterious meteorite struck Earth, triggering the emergence of Rams Carriers: people who develop superhuman abilities known as Rams. The problem is that those who develop these powers can only survive in the presence of Mebius Dust, a substance released by a giant crystal, condemning them to live within the limits of the city of Shinkatsushika with no way out. Within that confined space, the young Rams Carriers channel their energy into a territory conquest game, where Araki and his team’s story begins. Project Anima was an initiative that invited the general public to submit proposals through user-generated content platforms. The two previous projects from the contest that made it to screens were Sakugan in 2021 and the adaptation of Maho Tsukai ni Narenakatta Onna no Ko no Hanashi in 2024.

Does the concept of superpowers tied to a city hook you right away, or do you need to see more of the trailer to decide?
