Indie studio STUDIO909, helmed by writer and director Kazuhide Oka, has launched a Steam demo for its upcoming time-loop mystery title Quiet Express: Cabin 909. The reveal came with a new trailer during The MIX Fall Showcase 2026.

In Quiet Express: Cabin 909, players board the Quiet Express, a transcontinental train bound for its destination over seven days. Tragedy strikes on the seventh day, causing a fatal accident that claims all aboard. However, instead of dying, you awaken back at the train’s starting point, trapped in a seven-day time loop. Your mission is to uncover the truth and prevent the disaster before the final station is reached. Each cycle brings you closer to solving the mystery.

The gameplay involves exploring the Quiet Express in search of the elusive “Cabin 909,” a room that doesn’t officially exist on the train. Passengers and crew are unaware of its presence. As you traverse the train, you’ll interact with diverse characters, including beastmen, giants, and homunculi, each with their own stories and struggles. By learning their tales and fulfilling their requests, the game’s enigma gradually unfolds.

Exploration begins at the train’s rear, progressing toward the locomotive. The train’s cars rearrange based on chance and player choices. At each door, you’ll randomly select from three types of cars (passenger, dining, or cargo) to enter next. All cabins are interconnected, and altering their connections may reveal new areas and secrets. Exploration yields items that aid progression, while locks, puzzles, and hidden attics add to the intrigue.

The newly available demo provides about half an hour of gameplay, allowing players to experiment with ways to avert the Quiet Express’s seventh-day derailment. The developers have also established an official Discord server for fans to receive updates and gameplay advice.

Quiet Express: Cabin 909 is being crafted by Kazuhide Oka, the mind behind the critically acclaimed post-apocalyptic games GIRLS MADE PUDDING and natsuno-kanata: Beyond The Summer. STUDIO909 was founded by Oka specifically for this project. While Quiet Express retains the serene exploration of Oka’s past works, it incorporates mystery elements inspired by Blue Prince and Road 96.

Quiet Express: Cabin 909 is slated for a 2027 release on PC (Steam), with support for English, Japanese, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, and Korean.
