Ten years following the wind band of Kitauji end on September 11, 2026. Hibike! Euphonium: The Final Movie Part 2 has just released its main trailer alongside the final promotional image of the franchise, both clearly indicating that Kyoto Animation will not spare any effort in the conclusion. The film will be released in approximately 200 cinemas in Japan.

The new trailer focuses on the tension between Kumiko Oumae and her rival Mayu Kuroe, exploring the ideals and emotional burdens each carries as they approach their final performance. The trailer includes sequences of the band in full competition, a crying scene with Mayu that has already become the most discussed moment in the video, and entirely new material never shown publicly before: scenes from the school festival and a moment where the characters hold their graduation certificates looking at the sky. It’s the kind of imagery in Sound! Euphonium that strikes a direct emotional chord with anyone who has followed the story from the beginning.

The final promotional image carries the tagline “And then, the final movement begins” and shows the main characters moving together in the same direction. The visual motifs incorporate the seasons and the annual cycle of student life, a fitting symbol for a story that has followed these characters through over a decade of publications and adaptations.

Sound! Euphonium (Hibike! Euphonium) is the light novel series by Ayano Takeda adapted by Kyoto Animation, following Kumiko Oumae and her wind band classmates at Kitauji High School as they aim for a gold medal at the National Competition. The first anime season premiered in April 2015, and since then the franchise has grown to include three anime seasons, five theatrical films, special editions, and spin-off movies. Last year marked its tenth anniversary, and The Final Movie represents the definitive conclusion of this journey. For Kyoto Animation, one of the industry’s most beloved producers, it is also one of the most personal projects in their recent history.

Do you think the story of Kumiko and Mayu will have a conclusion that does justice to everything the series built, or is the weight of expectations too great for any ending?
