The shojo manga Dengeki Daisy confirms its anime adaptation for 2027

Studio DEEN brings the classic shojo mystery and romance that captivated a generation to the screen.

9 June 2026

More than ten years after its final page, Dengeki Daisy is back. Aniplex launched the official anime website on June 8, confirming the adaptation of the classic shojo manga by Kyousuke Motomi with a scheduled release in 2027. The announcement came with a special illustration by the author herself, highlighting her personal enthusiasm for the project.

Studio DEEN is handling production, with Sota Ueno directing and Sawako Hirabayashi overseeing scripts. Ayaka Murakami designs the characters, and Masaru Yokoyama composes the music, known for his work in drama and action series. No voice cast or additional staff details are available yet; these are expected in the coming months.

The story follows Teru Kurebayashi, a high school student who lost her older brother and connects with the world through text messages with someone known only as DAISY. Meanwhile, a young man named Tasuku Kurosaki repeatedly appears whenever Teru needs help, raising the central question: Could DAISY be closer than she thinks?

About Dengeki Daisy

Dengeki Daisy is a manga by Kyousuke Motomi, published in Shogakukan’s Monthly Betsucomi from 2007 to 2013, collected in sixteen volumes with the final volume released in February 2014. The series blended mystery, romance, and emotional depth in a story centered on an orphaned girl and a secret identity that drives the plot. Motomi remained active afterward with QQ Sweeper and Queen’s Quality, the latter concluding in February 2025 with twenty-five volumes. In January 2026, she launched a new manga titled Yaoyorozu Toriatsukai Setsumeisho in the same magazine. The Dengeki Daisy adaptation arrives over a decade after the manga’s end, marking a long-awaited return for a generation of fans who grew up with Teru and DAISY’s story.

Do you think Dengeki Daisy arrives at the right time to connect with a new generation of shojo fans, or will the anime need to work hard to capture what made the manga special?
