About The Greatest Magicmaster’s Retirement Plan
The Greatest Magicmaster’s Retirement Plan is a light novel by Izushiro, published by Hobby Japan under HJ Bunko, with a manga adaptation by Karu Yoneshiro. The franchise has surpassed one million copies in circulation. The story follows Alus Reigin, the world’s most powerful mage in a world with over 100,000 magic users. Tired of carrying this burden alone, he hides his identity and enrolls in an academy to train the next generation while still fighting monsters. It’s essentially the fantasy of an overpowered character who wants to rest but can’t, distinguished by its detailed world-building within the genre.
Does the premise of the strongest mage disguising himself to live a quiet life seem fresh to you, or do you feel the genre has too many variations of this same idea?
