The Fall in Love, You False Angels manga officially announces its anime adaptation

Coco Uzuki brings a school romance where perfect appearances deceive anyone.

We live in an era where pretending to be impeccable in front of others is almost a requirement for surviving daily social life, but maintaining a facade of a model student 24/7 eventually tires anyone. The work Fall in Love, You False Angels (Koiseyo Mayakashi Tenshi-domo) officially announced its animated production with a premiere scheduled for 2027. The news was revealed this Thursday via the promotional banner of the seventh compiled manga volume in Japan, immediately opening an official account on social media to share updates on the project alongside a commemorative illustration by the author, Coco Uzuki.

Although details about the voice cast or animation staff are yet to be revealed, the confirmation of the series has already generated significant buzz due to the great success of its source material. The story has won over readers with its clever approach to teenage relationships, moving away from flat characters to offer a “partners-in-crime” dynamic that refreshes typical romance formulas. Its strong reception in the market is backed by major awards, having won the Kodansha Manga Awards in 2025, as well as nominations for the Shogakukan Manga Award and consecutive appearances in the top 20 of the popular guide Kono Manga ga Sugoi! for female readers.

About Fall in Love, You False Angels

For those who keep piling volumes on their reading list without actually reading them (believe me, they’re missing out on something good), this series began serialization in April 2023 in Kodansha’s Dessert magazine. The plot follows Otogi Katsura, the first-year high school class president, known by all as a sweet, polite, and perfect girl. However, behind that saintly facade hides a very frank, rude, and unfiltered personality, ready to put anyone in their place when necessary.

Her secret is endangered the day she confronts some troublesome boys at the train station and is discovered by Toki Ninomae, the quiet and supposedly impeccable student vice-president. To Otogi’s surprise, Toki not only enjoys seeing her aggressive side but also hides a very different side from what he shows in class. Thus, both end up forming an alliance to protect their true personalities from the rest of the school, a deal that will inevitably force them to become extremely close both publicly and privately.

With stories like this where the protagonists have a double life, do you prefer when they keep their secrets intact from the rest of the students, or do you like the chaos that ensues when the whole school discovers the truth?
