Ado to perform Domestic Girlfriend opening in new album
The second volume of covers by the Japanese singer will debut on December 23rd.
One thing fans of Japanese music have been demanding is hearing Ado perform one of the most iconic and passionate openings from recent anime. Their prayers were answered, as the singer officially confirmed she will cover Kawaki wo Ameku, the unforgettable opening theme of Domestic Girlfriend, as part of her upcoming album titled Ado no Utattemita Album Sono 2, scheduled for release on December 23rd.
This revelation comes as part of a second batch of songs confirmed for this project, born from global votes on social media earlier this year. The choice of Kawaki wo Ameku (originally performed by Minami) isn’t surprising, as it topped fan requests due to its intense vocal demandsβa specialty where the young artist excels effortlessly.

Alongside this anime classic, the legendary Vocaloid song Unknown Mother Goose by wowaka (2017) was also confirmed, which Ado already showcased during her 2025 stadium tour. These additions join previously announced tracks, including the 2014 Vocaloid song Moso Shikkan Girl, EGO-WRAPPIN’s Kuchibashi ni Cherry, and for the first time in her covers discography, a Western rock classic: Metallica’s Enter Sandman, which drove audiences wild during her Summer Sonic 2026 festival performances.
The album will feature around ten songs total and will be available in both standard and limited first-print editions with an exclusive acrylic stand and collectible stickers. With this release, Ado expands the formula of her successful 2023 covers album, bringing together Vocaloid, J-pop, and international rock tracks in one production that promises to end the year on a high note.

Ado is one of Japan’s most prominent and popular singers today, having started her career as an utaite on Niconico before achieving worldwide stardom. Her ability to shift vocal registers with incredible power led her to perform the songs of character Uta in the film One Piece Film Red, topping international charts and solidifying her as a key figure in contemporary Japanese music.
