If you’ve been praying to Kinoko Nasu for more information about this adaptation, your prayers have been answered. The official X account for the Mahoutsukai no Yoru (also known as Witch on the Holy Night) anime film just released an important update. It was confirmed that this gem, produced by the animation studio with unlimited budget ufotable, will land in Japanese cinemas sometime in 2026.

The Nasuverse foundations shining with top-tier animation

For those just entering this universe, this story is no small thing. Mahoutsukai no Yoru originally came out as a PC visual novel in April 2012 and became a fundamental pillar of the Nasuverse, basically serving as a prequel to the events of Tsukihime. After receiving remasters for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and Steam between 2022 and 2023, seeing this work adapted with the stunning visual quality and magical choreography that characterize ufotable is the dream come true for any otaku.

We still need confirmation of the exact month and a proper trailer, but knowing the project is on track and the original cast is on board is enough to keep the hype sky-high.
