The central joke of this franchise is that Alya whispers flirty phrases in Russian, thinking her classmate Masachika has no idea what she’s saying. When the anime reached Russia, everyday dialogues were dubbed smoothly and naturally, but for moments where the protagonist whispers her secrets, the producers decided to leave the Japanese audio track completely intact. This means viewers are hearing the original performance of acclaimed seiyuu Sumire Uesaka without any filter or alteration.

Although Uesaka studied the language hard for this role, her pronunciation naturally retains a strong Japanese accent. This sparked an incredibly funny situation within the community: the only moments where native viewers genuinely struggle to understand the dialogue and need to read subtitles urgently are precisely when the character is supposedly speaking her native language. Instead of launching a massive funa against the studio for this decision, fans embraced this oddity, arguing it fits perfectly with the character’s canon, as Alya learned the language through family heritage and isn’t a 100% native speaker.
