The years of uncertainty for Black Bulls fans finally came to an end. During the panels at the recent Anime Expo, the production committee behind the animated adaptation of Black Clover released a new intense promotional video. The trailer not only confirmed that this anticipated second season will air on Japanese television in October, but it also offered a brutal preview of the opening theme for this sequel, titled “Kienai Riyū” and performed by the popular rock band WANIMA.

To ensure a perfect transition from where the original series left off, the creative reins remain within Studio Pierrot. The general director’s chair is once again occupied by Ayataka Tanemura, a key figure for the franchise who not only led the intense final stretch of the anime (from episode 153 to 170), but also directed the spectacular film Sword of the Wizard King in 2023. His return guarantees that the intensity of magical battles and the characteristic rhythm of shonen will remain intact for this new stage.

Resuming this story is no small feat, considering the massive media legacy behind the brand. What began as a manga written and illustrated by Yūki Tabata in the demanding pages of Weekly Shonen Jump in 2015 (now moved to the quarterly publication Jump Giga), managed to sustain uninterrupted television broadcast from October 2017 to March 2021. Although the project was originally conceived to last just over fifty episodes, its overwhelming commercial success forced the studio to extend it to 170 episodes. Now, with a solid foundation, Asta prepares to face the darkest secrets threatening the Clover Kingdom.
