The anime Chillin’ in Another World announces its second season

The original creators celebrate the announcement of the second season of this popular isekai.

4 July 2026

The production committee behind this fantasy gem didn’t want to prolong the suspense. Following the excellent reception of its first broadcast in April 2024, the animated adaptation of Chillin’ in Another World With Level 2 Super Cheat Powers (known in Japan by the lengthy title Lv2 kara Cheat datta Moto Yuusha Kouho no Mattari Isekai Life) has officially confirmed the development of its second season.

Although the announcement didn’t reveal an exact release window, it’s expected that the core creative team behind the first season will return. That inaugural season was brought to life within the offices of studio J.C.STAFF under the experienced direction of Yoshiaki Iwasaki, achieving a solid mix of comedy and action thanks to the scripts by Megumi Shimizu. Sōta Suwa perfectly adapted the character designs, while the magical atmosphere was orchestrated by the music of Kujira Yumemi.

The announcement was accompanied by special illustrations from Katagiri and Akine Itomachi, the artists for the novels and manga respectively, celebrating the peculiar married life of Flio and Fenrys just beginning.

The merchant who broke the system

The origin of this franchise traces back to the massive web novel platform Shōsetsuka ni Narō, where author Miya Kinojo began serializing the story in 2016. The premise puts an interesting twist on the traditional isekai formula: Banaza, an ordinary merchant, is summoned to the Magic Kingdom of Klyrode as a hero to fight the Dark Lord. The problem arises when, upon seeing his pathetic stats and zero skills, the kingdom discards him like trash in a remote area. His fate changes abruptly when he reaches level two and, due to a system error, unlocks absurdly overpowered abilities that forever alter his position in this new world. This concept worked so well that it quickly transitioned to a light novel format with publisher Overlap and later to its manga adaptation.

Considering the sudden and massive power level the protagonist already commands, do you think this new season will maintain that relaxed charm and slice-of-life appeal that hooked so many viewers?
