In anticipation of the forthcoming Dark Arisen expansion set to launch on October 9, Capcom has unveiled two substantial updates for Dragon’s Dogma 2 – with the first installment now live. A comprehensive list of bug fixes and enhancements has been rolled out, placing a heavy emphasis on fast travel mechanics. Players have expressed delight over the inclusion of Free Camera for Photo Mode, extra save slots, and various other quality-of-life improvements.

Returning from Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen is the Eternal Ferrystone, a tool that enables infinite teleportation to any active Portcrystal across the map. It is automatically granted after speaking with Brant during the Seat of the Sovran quest. Those who have already finished the quest will find the item added to their inventory. Unlike standard Ferrystones, which offer a single use and are scarce (available for purchase in limited quantities from specific shops at a steep 10,000 Gold), the Eternal Ferrystone is obtainable early by progressing through the main story, making world traversal significantly more convenient.

To further streamline fast travel, new Portcrystals have been placed in several key locations, including Melve, Checkpoint Rest Town, and Volcanic Island Camp. You’ll also receive a Portcrystal that can be positioned anywhere in the world upon completing the quest Monster Culling, which occurs after the Seat of the Sovran. Similar to the Eternal Ferrystone, finishing the quest beforehand ensures the Portcrystal is automatically added to your inventory.

For players who have not yet reached the Seat of the Sovran quest, the new Oxcart Stopovers provide an alternative. You can swiftly reach major destinations via Oxcart, though time will continue to pass during transit (unlike instantaneous travel with Ferrystones). Capcom has also refined the Oxcart system, shortening the wait time before resting, extending operating hours, and adding nearby Oxcarts to the mini map. For those who prefer traveling on foot, the developers have also reduced the stamina cost for dashing outside of combat.

Dragon’s Dogma’s second major update is scheduled for release at the end of August, focusing on game engine enhancements and adjustments. This includes improvements to game performance, the restrictive save system, and the UI. Adjustments to Dragonsplague, combat mechanics, Pawns, and enemy behavior are planned, alongside the usual batch of bug fixes.

Dragon’s Dogma 2 is available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Windows (Steam). A Nintendo Switch 2 version is set to debut alongside the Dark Arisen expansion on October 9.
