Good news for Dragon’s Dogma enthusiasts! The director behind Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen, Kento Kinoshita, is set to return and helm the upcoming Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen expansion. During the latest Capcom Spotlight, Kinoshita shed light on the details of the forthcoming DLC and its enhancements to the base game.
The centerpiece of Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen is its brand-new campaign, set in the forsaken northern expanse of Norgan. It’s here that players, as the Arisen, will confront the Fallen Dragon—a relentless dragon lacking its heart. Accompanied by a new companion named Eir, players will embark on a quest to uncover the mysteries surrounding this formidable creature.
As you traverse and battle through Norgan, you’ll stumble upon Relics, distinctive items exclusive to Dark Arisen. These can be appraised by particular NPCs, enabling you to forge potent weapons and armor, some of which boast special effects and unique skills.
Dark Arisen also introduces 12 challenging dungeon trials. Completing these will reward players with rare equipment for their Arisen. For those who appreciate aesthetics, the DLC offers fresh hairstyles and tattoos, allowing players to refresh their appearance for new escapades.

The original Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen introduced a new questline in the Bitterblack Isle region, along with skill upgrades, new adversaries, weapons, and armor that amplified the game’s difficulty and replay value. It also incorporated several quality-of-life tweaks, such as the Eternal Ferrystone, which permits unlimited fast travel between any active Portcrystal.
With Kinoshita now confirmed for Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen, fans are eagerly anticipating what else lies ahead for the game. The first major update, launched earlier this month, brought several fast travel and quality-of-life enhancements. The second update patch will focus on tweaks to Dragonsplague, Pawns, and enemies, while adding more save slots and weapon skill slots. These two substantial updates, alongside smaller ones, will also tackle gameplay performance.
Dragon’s Dogma 2 is currently available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Windows (Steam). A Nintendo Switch 2 version is scheduled to release alongside the Dark Arisen expansion on October 9.
