SAEKO: Giantess Dating Sim, crafted by SAFE HAVN STUDIO and distributed by HYPER REAL, has recently become available on the Nintendo Switch. This game, which was previously accessible on Steam, is a narrative-focused horror adventure set in 2000s Japan. In it, players find themselves miniaturized and held captive by the enigmatic giantess Saeko. As her most trusted prisoner, your duties involve overseeing other captives during daylight hours and acting as her confidante by night. Yet, this doesn’t grant you the status of a pampered pet under the captivating Saeko. She literally holds your life in her grasp, and a single poor decision could lead to your demise.
Recently, we had the chance to speak with the creators of Saeko, delving into how they managed to weave together the elements of “terror” and “arousal” within the game – or, as our interviewer phrased it: “The peculiar sensation of being overwhelmed by both ‘Wow her breasts are enormous’ and ‘I’m about to be killed,’ simultaneously.”
“Balancing ‘arousal’ (Saeko’s charm) and ‘terror’ was a key consideration throughout development. In fact, we placed greater emphasis on conveying the fear factor,” the developers stated. Ideally, they aimed for players to first experience fear, with Saeko’s allure gradually taking hold as they engage with her.

For instance, the scene depicted above illustrates their approach. “Visually, Saeko’s breasts dominate much of the screen, which might sound appealing at first. However, when you realize you’ve been shrunk to the size of a thumb and are staring at colossal breasts ten times your size from atop a desk, they cease to feel like ordinary breasts and instead resemble ‘a massive, overwhelming presence,” the developers clarified.
To enhance the ominous aura of Saeko and her form, the development team invested significant effort into her animations. This involved positioning the camera to avoid fully revealing her breasts, meticulously designing their movement, and considering how they interacted with lighting – all to ensure they appeared “unrecognizable as breasts at first glance.”
“This approach proved to be a masterstroke in terms of artistic direction,” the developers noted. “Upon first implementing the animations, the excitement was so great that we had to briefly halt development.”

While Saeko: Giantess Dating Sim contains certain erotic and fetishistic undertones (inspired by an erotic novel that “kind of messed up” the creator’s life), it is not a sexually explicit game nor a dating sim where you can win Saeko’s affection. Therefore, the strong focus on horror, even in scenarios that might seem like they belong in an eroge, is entirely fitting.
As the developers explained, “The game is a psychological horror. Judging by the screenshots and description, it’s clear that it exudes unsettling vibes far removed from those of a romance game. However, the story setting and title do suggest romantic elements, and we’ve indeed received many messages from international fans who mistook it for a game where you can flirt with Saeko. We chose to disregard those comments (laughs).”
Saeko: Giantess Dating Sim is currently available on PC (Steam) and Nintendo Switch.
