The Heavily Armed High School Girls project confirms its anime for 2027
Good Smile Film brings neco’s illustrations to anime with the director of Princess Principal at the helm.
Good Smile Company has been turning figures into franchises for years, and its latest venture is straightforward: the illustrations of high school girls with heavy armament by illustrator neco will get an anime. The Juu Heisougata Joshi Kousei (Heavily Armed High School Girls) project was officially confirmed with a scheduled release for 2027, accompanied by a short trailer and a promotional image featuring character Ichi as the first look at the series’ visual style.

A project backed by a big name behind the camera
Direction will be handled by Masaki Tachibana, whose credits include Princess Principal, Barakamon, and Tokyo Magnitude 8.0. Tachibana is exactly the type of director who knows how to balance action with character development, giving the project a clear signal of its direction. Scripts will be supervised by Natsuko Takahashi, with credits in Tokyo Magnitude 8.0, My Love Story!!, and Love and Lies. Production is a joint effort between Good Smile Film and Good Smile Company.
No voice cast or additional team details are available yet. The announcement focuses on confirming the project’s existence and presenting its main creative direction. More details are expected in the coming months.
About Heavily Armed High School Girls
neco is an illustrator known in the anime and collectible figure community for his visual style that combines female character designs with military elements and large-scale weaponry. His notable works include original character designs for Synduality: Noir and Why Does Nobody Remember Me in This World?. He is also the author of the manga Ore no Yubi de Midarero., which served as the basis for the anime Crazy Over His Fingers. Heavily Armed High School Girls is his first personal project to receive an animated adaptation, starting from the illustrations and figures he built around the concept of high school students equipped with heavy weaponry.
