This month, Too Kyo Games’ debut visual novel TRPG The Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy marks its first anniversary. The celebration brings several exciting developments, including an upcoming multi-ending stage play and an official manga adaptation by Square Enix’s Manga UP!, scheduled to debut in the winter of 2026. Regarding DLC, though no official details have been shared yet, recent remarks from game director Kazutaka Kodaka hint that fans can anticipate a substantial expansion for the already intricate game.
For context, back in June of last year, Kodaka stated that if the base game’s sales warrant it, he intends to expand The Hundred Line’s narrative with new routes and endings via DLC, aiming to “create an overwhelmingly huge labyrinth of scenarios.” Now, nearly a year later, Famitsu inquired about the likelihood of this vision becoming reality.
“It’s still in the conceptual stage,” he explains, “but I’m personally committed to pursuing it, and the rest of our development team at the company are also supportive.” According to Kodaka, his team is debating whether the DLC should focus solely on the story or also enhance gameplay. However, one aspect is clear: the director believes that releasing DLC would lack significance if it merely added a single route. Instead, he aims to craft something expansive enough to merit the title “The Hundred Line 3.” Given that The Hundred Line 1 and 2 are already considered substantial enough to officially be regarded as “two games in one,” this promises to be a bold undertaking.

“If we don’t tackle it with that level of dedication, the impact will be minimal, and it won’t feel like The Hundred Line,” Kodaka notes. He also brings up the possibility of collaborating with guest writers for some of the new routes. Ideally, Too Kyo Games plans to announce the DLC simultaneously with another major media project, to capitalize on The Hundred Line’s momentum.
The Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy is available for PC (Steam) and Nintendo Switch. To honor the game’s 1st anniversary, the Steam version will be discounted by 40% until April 30th (Thu) 8:00 AM (PDT).
