The second season of Mayonaka Heart Tune will arrive in 2027
The production committee confirmed that the sequel will land on Japanese television in 2027.
Romance and school mystery fans can breathe easy. The production committee behind the animated adaptation of the popular original manga Mayonaka Heart Tune (known in the West as Tune In to the Midnight Heart) gave us great news to brighten the weekend. Through their official channels, they confirmed that the long-awaited second season is now a reality, revealing a vibrant promotional image and setting its arrival on the small screen for some point in the distant year 2027.

To ensure the charming essence of the story created by Masakuni Igarashi remains intact, studio Gekkō decided to play it safe and bring back its old guard. The general director’s chair will continue to be occupied by Masayuki Takahashi, while the scripts will remain under the strict supervision of Yukie Sugawara. Visually, the talented Tomoyuki Shitaya will retake his brushes for the character designs, backed by the wonderful scores from composer Kuniyuki Takahashi, ensuring the franchise maintains its impeccable audiovisual quality.
New faces for an unresolved mystery
Beyond continuing to follow Arisu Yamabuki’s intense search to discover which of the charismatic girls in the broadcasting club is the enigmatic announcer Apollo, this sequel will dramatically expand the intimate core of our protagonist. The official announcement introduced interesting additions to the voice cast, introducing the temperamental older sister, Riina, who struggles with a huge complex about her short height, and the laid-back younger sister, Mito. These new family dynamics promise to inject a good dose of chaos and freshness into the main mystery that kept us hooked in the first installment.
Voice cast
- Ami Koshimizu as Riina Yamabuki.
- Kaede Hondo as Mito Yamabuki.

Considering that animation studios often rush the production of romantic comedies to capitalize on their current popularity, do you think the long wait until 2027 will kill the community’s hype or will it be absolutely worth it to ensure a top-tier conclusion?
