The romantic comedy My Sweet Marriage to My Ex-Nemesis gets an anime adaptation
Atsushi Nigorikawa directs the adaptation at Ankichi Kobo with scripts by Keiichiro Ochi.
Going from wanting to destroy each other on the battlefield to sharing the same roof and grocery shopping sounds like the most chaotic scenario possible, but also like a gem of romantic comedy. Publisher Kadokawa has officially confirmed that the light novel series Soshiki no Shukuteki to Kekkon Shitara Mecha Amai (My Sweet Marriage to My Ex-Nemesis) will make its leap to television with its own anime adaptation.
The direction of this adaptation is handled by Atsushi Nigorikawa at Ankichi Kobo, known for works like A Journey Through Another World: Raising Kids While Adventuring. Script supervision and writing are done by Keiichiro Ochi, a key figure behind The Quintessential Quintuplets and Summer Pockets, while character design falls to Yuki Nakano. To celebrate the announcement, the original illustrator Kewi Hayashi shared a commemorative illustration.

Soshiki no Shukuteki to Kekkon Shitara Mecha Amai is a light novel series written by Toshimichi Uzo and illustrated by Kewi Hayashi. The series began publication in October 2023 under Kadokawa’s Dengeki Bunko label and has maintained steady progress in print. The franchise also features a manga adaptation by artist Shiime, serialized in Dengeki Maoh magazine since November 2024.
The story follows Roshi Saigawa and Ritsuka Nagira, two superpowered warriors who for years led rival organizations and engaged in relentless duels. However, after their factions dissolved, their rivalry took an unexpected turn: they started dating and eventually got married. Now, having swapped weapons for marital vows, they try to live a sweet daily life as newlyweds, though old combat habits and past arguments constantly resurface amid the romance.
