Kodansha has revealed that its distinctive live-action romance simulation Sweet Hamster Days will launch in July 2026 for PC, available on platforms such as Steam, the Epic Games Store, and DLsite. This marks the second time a release date has been announced, following an earlier declaration in August 2025 that was later complicated by the game’s temporary removal from Steam due to unforeseen issues.
Six months on, Sweet Hamster Days is set to make its return. Developed through a partnership between Kodansha Game Lab and the Japanese photo magazine FRIDAY, the project features Japanese actress and gravure idol Sayaka Tomaru, model and ballerina Momoha Takatsuru, and Teratera idol group member Shiori Ikemoto portraying Himari, Futaba, and Miyu—the Shiratori sisters.

Players will interact with these characters not as a human, but as a playful hamster. The narrative follows protagonist Kota, who finds himself reborn as a hamster after a traffic accident. Upon returning to his hometown after six years, Kota is unexpectedly transformed into a hamster just as he was set to reunite with his childhood friends, the Shiratori sisters.
Kota is soon adopted by the sisters and becomes their cherished pet, Hamta. As Hamta, players will engage with the three sisters from the confines of a cage or the comfort of their hands—enjoying naps, receiving affection, and indulging in treats. Throughout this experience, players will observe the sisters’ once-close bond fraying over time and must make choices to mend their relationships and uncover the underlying problems.

Crafted by Ken Shimomura, known for his work on Chain Chronicle and Onmyoji, Sweet Hamster Days is slated for a July 2026 PC release on Steam, the Epic Games Store, and DLsite. The game will offer support for Japanese, English, Simplified Chinese, and Traditional Chinese languages. In anticipation of its full launch, Sweet Hamster Days will also feature in the Steam Next Fest beginning June 16.
