Game Freak has revealed Ame Nochi Hare Onna, a free-to-play game set to launch this winter exclusively on iOS and Android devices within Japan. A fresh trailer provides a glimpse into the game’s vibrant anime-inspired visuals and character designs.
This new project is a collaboration with CHRONOGATE, placing players in modern-day Japan alongside magical girls known as Hare Onna (“Sunshine Girls”). These characters harness weather phenomena as magical abilities to uplift the spirits of those around them. Accompanied by their adorable cloud companions, Kumorin, their goal is to clear the skies and bring brightness to Japan.
The game integrates real-world weather data, creating a gameplay experience that mirrors players’ daily environments. The Hare Onna characters originate from various regions across Japan, with Himawari being the latest addition representing the Kanto area.
Notably, Ame Nochi Hare Onna is helmed by Shigeru Omori, who has served as the principal director for the Pokémon series since 2014’s Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire.
Ame Nochi Hare Onna is slated for a winter release on iOS and Android platforms. Additional details about the game will be unveiled during an official livestream scheduled for September 14, 2026, at 19:00 JST.
