Anime production studio Silver Link has disclosed an operating deficit of 271 million JPY (approximately $1.7 million USD) for the fiscal year concluding March 2026 (source: Gamebiz). Although the deficit has not expanded markedly from the preceding fiscal year, this marks the third consecutive year of losses for the studio.ย
Established in 2007, Silver Link is an anime studio under the Asahi Broadcasting Group and has produced numerous manga and light novel adaptations, along with OVAs. Among its most acclaimed works are WataMote, Kokoro Connect and Strike the Blood, as well as the more recent Hokkaido Gals Are Super Adorable!ย

Despite Silver Linkโs latest financial outcomes revealing a considerable rise in revenue, up by 32.1% year-on-year, this growth was insufficient to counterbalance their operating deficits. While the precise reasons behind Silver Linkโs predicament remain unclear, the pattern of โincreasing revenue, yet shrinking profit marginsโ has been a growing concern across Japanโs anime sector (according to research company Teikoku Databank), linked to challenges such as extended production timelines and scarcities of skilled personnel.ย
Not long ago, Studio KAI โ recognized for the second and third seasons of the Umamusume: Pretty Derby TV anime series โ declared insolvency amid a $3.54 million shortfall.ย
