SNK Entertainment has officially been dissolved as of August 20, according to Japan’s government gazette (source: GameBiz).

SNK Entertainment was a fully-owned division of SNK Corporation that was established in 2016. The company functioned as a contract developer, primarily handling game development and video and graphic production. It also managed licensing for SNK’s collection of intellectual properties and participated in other related online and digital entertainment ventures. As noted by Game Industry Biz, the division was created to “revitalize SNK’s inactive IPs and serve as a foundation for developing new SNK digital content, collaborations, and merchandise.”

However, in June 2022, a large part of SNK Entertainment’s game and content development, sales, marketing, and licensing operations were moved to SNK through an absorption-type corporate split.

It appears the company has been largely inactive since the absorption-type split, so the recent dissolution is not anticipated to affect SNK’s business significantly.
