The new Hololive VTuber makes a serious slip-up during live stream
The Hololive member accidentally mentioned the name of a famous scientific VTuber.
Protecting one’s past identity when joining a major agency is a golden rule in the virtual world, but slip-ups happen even among the best minds. The newly debuted Hololive talent, Sorashina Sopia, ended up in the spotlight after making a small slip during a Q&A stream, accidentally naming another creator and sparking a wave of speculation.

The incident occurred on September 29 during a live where the VTuber was answering fan questions. While reading a message, Sopia let slip the name Kakapo while casually commenting on an empty seat beside her. The mention immediately raised alarms among viewers, as Kitashirakawa Kakapo is a well-known scientific VTuber who went on an indefinite break in June 2026, sharing identical academic credentials with Sopia, including a PhD in physics, math teaching licenses, and tech certifications.

After the stream, the management team reviewed the content and temporarily privatized the video to assess the situation. Hours later, the talent apologized for the inconvenience caused to viewers, and the video was restored publicly. Although neither party has confirmed whether it’s the same person, the community quickly connected the dots due to the striking profile similarities and how naturally the name was mentioned during the stream.

Sorashina Sopia is a virtual talent affiliated with Hololive Production as part of the ASOBI MAWARI-TAI unit, having officially debuted on September 24, 2026. As a self-taught astronomer with a deep fascination for science, her character features a real academic background, including a PhD in physics and teaching credentials, quickly becoming one of the most unique scientific voices in the agency.
