In response to the development team’s June statement concerning the staggered launch timeline for Suikoden STAR LEAP, Konami has revealed that the free-to-play JRPG will debut in Japan starting August 7. The release dates for the global and PC (Steam) versions will be shared at a later time.
Taking place in the Solar Year 453—four years prior to the first Suikoden—Star Leap follows an unnamed protagonist hailing from a lakeside village east of the Scarlet Moon Empire. After a band of enigmatic adversaries destroys your hometown, you and three companions—Hisui, Shirin, and Shapur—embark on a quest to rebuild your community. Along the way, you become entangled in events that alter the fabric of history.
Unveiled in 2025, Suikoden STAR LEAP is being crafted as a blend of mobile and console gaming. The inclusion of 108 recruitable characters (including the protagonist and starting party members), alongside its turn-based combat, interplay of light and dark themes, and immersive storytelling, underscores the game’s status as a proper installment in the franchise.
Suikoden STAR LEAP is slated for release on Android and iOS in Japan on August 7. The launch dates for the game’s global and PC (Steam) versions will be announced in due course.
