SpiralAI has revealed RyzaChat: Your Midsummer Dream Story with AI Ryza (unofficial translation), an AI-driven chat RPG inspired by the Atelier Ryza franchise. Developed in collaboration with Koei Tecmo’s studio Gust, the game is set to debut sometime in August 2026, with pre-registrations available starting today. This announcement follows the disclosure of Koei Tecmo’s alliance with the domestic AI startup.
RyzaChat takes place on Kurken Island, the homeland of Atelier Ryza, where progress is driven entirely by interactions with a Ryza-inspired conversational AI. The initial goal will challenge players to assist Ryza in constructing a vessel to depart from Kurken Island, an achievement that unlocks the world map. Following this, new adventures are dynamically created as players advance, with the game guaranteeing an effectively boundless supply of personalized adventures based on players’ dialogues with the AI. The world map mirrors the original games’ environment, enabling players to journey between locales for exploration, resource collection, combat, crafting, and construction alongside the complete cast from the original Atelier Ryza trilogy.

In this regard, RyzaChat lacks a predetermined plot. The concept is to craft your personal narrative. Beyond the adventures, which are accessible through the game’s RPG Mode, players can also switch to a Chat Mode for relaxed one-on-one exchanges with Ryza. Ryza’s facial expressions and gestures will shift as she replies to your messages, and the game will monitor inventory, stamina, and currency in the background during play. For instance, any items you gather will be added to your inventory, and Ryza will offer guidance on what materials or how much in-game currency you require to construct something.
Accompanying the announcement, SpiralAI has highlighted several precautions it claims were implemented to ensure ethical use of AI. The developer states all artwork, character visuals, promotional clips, and key visuals were crafted by human artists under the guidance of original Atelier Ryza illustrator Toridamono, ensuring that the game does not employ AI-generated video or images.

Ryza’s voice synthesis is derived from recordings specifically created for the app by her original voice actress, Yuri Noguchi, utilizing SpiralAI’s proprietary voice synthesis model “Kotodama.”
The game’s conversations employ SpiralAI’s exclusive “SpiralLLM,” which was trained on the Atelier Ryza series’ narratives and reference documents. According to the company, the model was constructed upon publicly accessible base models whose licenses authorize such use, and was further trained solely with data that SpiralAI and the IP owners were legally permitted to use.
The developers also emphasized that RyzaChat’s world, characters, and setting were developed under Gust’s oversight to remain true to the original series.
Lastly, SpiralAI assures that revenue from the game will be distributed to contributors, including the illustrators, voice actors, and IP owners via royalties linked to the assets used, describing this mechanism as a means to ensure AI character-based experiences continue to support creators.
RyzaChat: Your Midsummer Dream Story with AI Ryza is slated to launch in August 2026 for iOS and Android.
