The Iceblade Sorcerer confirms its second season for October

Studio Zero-G takes the reins to animate the awaited return of our favorite broken mage.

22 May 2026

If you thought we were going to run out of sequels featuring protagonists who pretend to be weak but effortlessly defeat their enemies, you’re wrong. The official website of The Iceblade Sorcerer Shall Rule the World (Hyoken no Majutsushi ga Sekai o Suberu) has just awakened from a three-year slumber to drop a bomb that surprised us: the second season is a reality and will officially land on the October premiere lineup. And get ready, because this sequel comes with a change in animation studio that promises quite a bit.

For those who complained about the visual quality details in the first season animated by Cloud Hearts back in January 2023, the production committee listened to the criticisms. The animation baton passed directly to studio Zero-G, promising the long-awaited aesthetic improvement to the ice magic. That said, Masahiro Takata remains firmly in the director and script supervisor chair, ensuring the pace doesn’t lose its essence. Additionally, the team is reinforced with new talent: Takahito Onishi joins as screenwriter and Mariko Kawamoto takes the helm in character design.

Voice Cast Returning to Arnold Academy

Where they absolutely refused to change anything was in the recording booth. Knowing that fans were already attached to the chemistry of the main trio, the cast of seiyuus returns intact to continue delivering the elite magical drama:

  • Junya Enoki as Ray White.
Famous for voicing Yuji Itadori in Jujutsu Kaisen and Nasa Yuzaki in TONIKAWA, returning as our OP protagonist who just wants a normal life.
  • Iori Saeki as Amelia Ros.
Known in otaku culture for voicing Vanilla in Nekopara and Kimie in Oresuki.
  • Akira Sekine as Ariane Olgren.
Acclaimed for her work as Princess in Princess Principal and Roka Shibasaki in D-Frag!.

This announcement comes at the perfect time for the franchise. Considering the manga adaptation by Norihito Sasaki concluded early in 2024, the TV anime has the green light to dive into adapting the most intense arcs of the original light novel by Nana Mikoshiba. The fall season is always highly competitive, but this school anime has firmly secured its niche.

Synopsis of The Iceblade Sorcerer Shall Rule the World

The prestigious Arnold Magic Academy is a nest of elitist students and aristocrats who deeply despise anyone without pure magical lineage. Here enters Ray White, an ordinary student of humble origin who manages to enroll in the academy and appears to be ridiculously clumsy and untalented in magic. However, behind that facade of complete mediocrity hides the legendary Iceblade Sorcerer, the world’s most powerful mage who led humanity to victory in a brutal past war. Ray only seeks a peaceful school life and normal friends, but the dark secrets hidden by the academy, the nobility’s conspiracies, and his own war traumas will force him to use his overwhelming power once more.

Will you give this second season with the studio change a chance, or did you drop the series during its first run?
