The Shy Snow Woman and the Cursed Ring doujin announces anime adaptation
Puuzaki Puuna breaks all conventions with an anime that will include an original, unpublished story.
In anime history, there have been many “firsts,” but this one deserves special mention. Puuzaki Puuna, creator of the adult doujin The Shy Snow Woman and the Cursed Ring (Hitozukiai ga Nigate na Miboujin no Yuki Onna-san to Noroi no Yubiwa), has just announced that her work will get an animated adaptation. The reason this is historic is simple: no adult doujin has ever made the direct leap to anime without first having a commercial print release or being confined to an exclusive video release.
What makes this announcement special
Puuzaki Puuna was clear about the significance of this event. Other adult doujins have received anime adaptations before, but in all those cases, the result was a direct-to-video release, never a series airing for the general public. This anime breaks that ceiling by starting directly from the original material without needing a commercial edition. The creator shared the announcement with commemorative promotional images she drew herself, showing her personal enthusiasm for the project.

One detail worth noting is that the anime will not be a direct adaptation of the doujin: it will include an original story different from the original material’s events. This means even those who have read the two published volumes will encounter new content, giving the project its own life beyond being a simple animated translation of existing pages. There is currently no information on the animation studio, voice cast, or release date, so we’ll have to wait for future updates.
About The Shy Snow Woman and the Cursed Ring
The Shy Snow Woman and the Cursed Ring is a doujin by Puuzaki Puuna that began publication in July 2021 and currently has two full-color volumes. The story takes place in a world where humans and supernatural creatures coexist, following a young apartment building manager inhabited only by yokai. One day, he discovers a cursed ring with the power to control any supernatural creature in sight and decides to use it on Yukino, a shy widow yuki-onna (snow spirit) who lives as a tenant in his building. What starts as a supernatural romance premise quickly becomes complicated by the ring’s questionable morality.
Do you think the anime will maintain the essence of the original doujin, or will the format change transform it into something completely different?
