A clear example is Ekaputra Meravigliosi, an Indonesian youth who became a viral sensation online after celebrating his university graduation ceremony with his “waifu”: Firefly, the popular character from the hit game Honkai: Star Rail.

The story went viral through a photo collage that quickly flooded social media. In the images, Meravigliosi is seen smiling alongside a life-size cardboard cutout of Firefly. The level of detail captivated the public: the cardboard figure wasn’t just a game image, but a custom illustration where Firefly wears the exact same academic robe as the graduate (a black robe with yellow trim and a light blue sash), holding a beautiful bouquet tied with a red ribbon.

The collage includes photos of the unusual and touching pair in the university gardens, with Meravigliosi posing next to the cutout and even kneeling on the grass for the perfect shot, treating the figure like an honored guest.

To make the moment even more epic, the collage was shared with a large blue banner in capital letters challenging critics: “CONGRATULATIONS! THIS GUY GRADUATES WITH HIS LOVED WAIFU, FIREFLY FROM HONKAI: STAR RAIL! READY TO DEBATE IF INTERNET USERS CALL HIM KARBIT” (Indonesian slang for a poser or fake fan). The original post declared this the absolute definition of “true love transcends dimensions.”
