After his October announcement stating that MIGHTREYA would shift from a 2025 launch to “the first half of 2026,” solo Japanese creator and ex-Devil May Cry developer Wazen has made the decision to delay the game once more. Although no new release date has been specified, he has assured followers that the additional development time will be dedicated to polishing MIGHTREYA’s action mechanics, visuals, and gameplay.
Even though MIGHTREYA was introduced in 2024, it has actually been in production for nearly five years. The game centers on Reya, a high school student endowed with extraordinary abilities. Alongside her manager, Rio, the duo broadcast their battles against creatures from a parallel dimension. By leveraging her collection of three weapons and 30 distinct actions and attacks, Reya dismantles 24 types of enemies across 38 levels. Reya also possesses the ability to fly and dash at incredible speeds, allowing players to fully embody the experience of a superpowered teenager.
Wazen has made significant efforts to keep MIGHTREYA’s development process as open as possible. He consistently updates fans on the game’s progress through its Steam page, official Discord, YouTube channel, and his personal X account. Additionally, he frequently refreshes the free demo on Steam to mirror the latest build.
Thanks to this level of openness, the majority of fans remain supportive of the decision to push back the game’s release. Wazen’s most recent X post showcases Reya’s sword maneuvers and indicates that he has already resumed enhancing MIGHTREYA.
MIGHTREYA is currently being developed for Windows (Steam). A free demo is also available for players to try.
