Lowiro, the UK-based studio known for the popular rhythm game Arcaea, has revealed that its upcoming title, In Falsus, is slated for a September 9 release this year. This narrative-driven rhythm game combines mouse and keyboard controls, a visual novel-style storyline, and card crafting elements.

Taking place in a fictional near-future, In Falsus follows the journeys of five female protagonists. Each character has her own set of loves, fears, desires, and in-game attributes that players uncover as they advance through the story. The narrative branches based on player choices, yet all paths converge in an interconnected plot centered around the girls joining a mysterious government initiative, only to uncover a hidden aspect of their reality. The game supports English, Japanese, Simplified Chinese, and Traditional Chinese interfaces and subtitles, alongside full Japanese voice acting.

The rhythm gameplay requires players to press incoming notes (mapped to Shift, A, S, D, F, and Spacebar by default) while guiding the mouse in time with the music. In Falsus boasts over 70 tracks at launch, with 40 original compositions from renowned Japanese indie artists. The game features a diverse range of musical genres, and certain tracks are tied to pivotal story moments.

Successfully completing songs rewards players with Iota, a currency used to craft cards. These cards can be inserted into the protagonists’ Blueprintsβ€”grid systems offering various stat enhancements and bonuses. Players can equip up to five cards per song, enabling tailored loadouts to suit different challenges and playstyles.

In Falsus will launch on September 9 for Windows (Steam). A free demo is available for download.
