The production committee behind this unique parenting and battle franchise confirmed what many readers had suspected for months. Original writer Kametsu Tomobashi officially announced this past weekend that the animated adaptation of My S-Rank Adventurer Daughters Have Serious Father Complexes (known by its full Japanese title S Rank Bōkensha Dearu Ore no Musume-tachi wa Jūdo no Fathercon Deshita) has been greenlit for television.

To celebrate the milestone, the light novel illustrator Tsubame Nozomi and manga artist Shunichi released commemorative illustrations of the inseparable protagonists.

Unlike stories where the protagonist seeks glory or defeats the Demon King, this plot takes a more relaxed but chaotic approach. The narrative introduces Kaiser, who was once an absolute prodigy and held the title of the world’s most powerful adventurer. However, he decided to hang up his weapons and retire from deadly combat to fully embrace his new calling: being a sweet and devoted father. The comedic twist lies in his three daughters, who not only inherited his overwhelming combat abilities but also developed such an extreme paternal complex that they cannot tolerate being away from him.

Novels’ Success in the Japanese Market

This project originated in 2019 on the massive web reading portal Shōsetsu ni Narō, achieving enough success for publisher Overlap to begin serializing it physically. Currently, the light novel continues to be published at a steady pace, while its manga adaptation, which debuted in 2020 on the Comic Gardo service, is set to release its twelfth volume this July. Thanks to this dual paper and digital push, the franchise has surpassed 1.6 million copies in circulation, proving there’s a massive captive audience eager to see this family dynamic come to life.
