To mark its third anniversary, Japanese developer and publisher PinCool is hosting a sale for its debut title, Pritto Prisoner. Alongside the game being discounted by 90% until June 8, the developers are rolling out a major 2.0 update. This update introduces three new stages, three additional playable animal characters, two new robot parts, and a variety of special items and random events.

Under the guidance of former Dragon Quest series producer Ryutaro Ichimura, Pritto Prisoner is a 4v2 asymmetric multiplayer “prisoner vs guards” party game. Players have the choice of either escaping Prison Island as an animal inmate or apprehending the fugitives as a robot security guard.

The central gameplay loop revolves around using pee and poop strategically, though it’s presented in a much more charming manner than it sounds.

Four animal inmates navigate the game environment in search of food, which they can consume and convert into poop. This poop can then be utilized to trigger prison mechanisms, set traps for the robots, and clog the prison’s toilets. The exit gate only opens once all the level’s toilets are successfully blocked, granting the inmates their escape route.

Animals can also accumulate pee by drinking from water sources, which can subsequently be employed to destroy surveillance cameras and temporarily disable or mark the robots for their teammates.

Pritto Prisoner offers a selection of animal classes, each endowed with unique skills and attributes. Ranging from a lion samurai capable of slicing through multiple robots to a scientist pig who deploys chemical concoctions to create blinding smokescreens, there’s an animal character tailored to every playstyle.

Unlike the animals, which have predefined classes and skills, robots are customized before each match by combining different parts, each offering unique abilities and effects. For instance, equipping your robot with a Stun Gun enables you to incapacitate nearby escapees. Similarly, opting for lightweight Wheels over Tank Treads sacrifices your robot’s resistance to pee for increased speed. Robots can also gain levels mid-game by collecting Poopie dropped by the animals.

When an animal is apprehended, it is confined to the Nap Room, and a timer begins until it can rejoin the escape attempt. The two robots achieve victory if they manage to capture all four animals simultaneously. Conversely, the animals emerge victorious if they successfully escape.

Pritto Prisoner’s 2.0 update introduces three new animal characters: Captain Necky, Ninja Toramaru, and Madam Grandma – each bringing their own distinct skills and traits that differentiate them from the existing classes. Two new robot parts have also been added: Punch, which excels in close-range rush attacks and can also strike distant targets by charging the attack input, and Hover, which allows you to fly over water and navigate floors with conveyor belts.

Three thematically diverse levels inject new life into the game. The Beach level is set on a tropical resort and features a complex network of winding waterways. The Sushi Bar level involves animals catching and consuming food that travels down conveyor lanes. Lastly, the Solitary Cell level is a horror-themed stage where each cell holds a terrifying sight. Each level contains hidden rooms, encouraging players to explore and discover them. Several special items and random events have also been incorporated to enhance variety and unpredictability.

With improved cutscene animations and background updates, daily challenges for in-game currency, and the option for Nintendo Switch 2 players to display their faces on their characters and the poo they leave behind, Pritto Prisoner has undergone its most substantial content expansion to date.

Pritto Prisoner is available for Windows and macOS (Steam), as well as Nintendo Switch and Switch 2. A free demo is also available on Steam.
