Romance and Knights? The Seven Knights of the Marronnier Kingdom Confirms Anime Adaptation

J.C.Staff brings a fantasy and romance story that promises to melt hearts this autumn.

If you’re tired of every new fantasy story being another isekai with a broken protagonist solving everything with fights, you’ll be glad to know the industry still has room for pure romance and warmer adventures. The work The Seven Knights of the Marronnier Kingdom (Marronnier Okoku no Shichinin no Kishi) officially confirmed this Monday it’s getting an anime series set to premiere in October this year.

To build excitement, the team released a first promotional image on their official website. This story will air on an educational channel, targeting both younger audiences and general viewers who enjoy these genres. No seiyuu names or episode count have been revealed yet, but production is underway.

The Production Team

This adventure comes to life thanks to studio J.C.Staff, with Kiyoko Sayama directing, backed by experience in titles like Skip Beat and recent seasons of To Your Eternity. To maintain the delicate emotional balance true to the original manga, Shinzo Fujita is handling the scripts and series supervision. Character designs were adapted for screen by Yuriko Maeda, while Yoshiaki Fujisawa composes a soundtrack capturing that adventurous and romantic atmosphere. All audio is under the watchful eye of veteran sound director Jin Aketagawa.

About The Seven Knights of the Marronnier Kingdom

This manga by Nao Iwamoto is a comforting read that has been published since 2016 in Shogakukan’s Flowers magazine. Its strong fanbase is evident as its 11th compiled volume releases on June 10. Iwamoto isn’t new to blending fantasy worlds with strong emotional cores; she’s the mind behind Kingdom of Gold, Kingdom of Water, which got its own film adaptation early in 2023.

The plot centers on seven unique brothers serving as knights in their kingdom. Each has the important task of traveling as an ambassador to one of eight neighboring nations, where they’ll also embark on a parallel mission: finding their destined partner. The fun part is their personalities match their names. You have characters like Nemukunai, who never sleeps; the generous Hakuai; and the contrasting Atsugariya and Samugariya, who are super sensitive to heat and cold respectively. Joining them are Kemono Tsukai, who loves animals; the proud swordsman Tsurugi Jiman; and Harapeko, who’s always hungry. With this chaotic but charming group searching for love, laughter is guaranteed.

What do you think? Will you give this unusual romantic comedy a chance, or wait to see if the first episode convinces you visually?
