The Gigolo and the Heroine: The Kept Man of the Princess Knight reveals its first trailer and 2027 premiere

Junichi Suwabe voices the most useless kept man in the labyrinth anime arriving in January 2027.

A legendary knight enters the world’s most dangerous labyrinth to restore her kingdom. And her partner: a man who doesn’t fight, doesn’t explore, lives off her, and spends his days drinking and being sarcastic. The Kept Man of the Princess Knight released its first teaser confirming the premiere for January 2027, and the video clearly shows that the dynamic between its two protagonists is exactly as strange as it sounds.

The teaser offers a first look at the atmosphere of Gray Neighbor, the labyrinthine city where the story takes place, while highlighting the contrast between the serious and proud Arwin, known as the Crimson Princess Knight, and the relaxed, sharp-tongued Matthew, her kept man. The city grows around the Great Labyrinth of the White Night of a Thousand Years, whose light attracts adventurers from all over, though the same intensity that creates that light also deepens the shadows of a chaotic and dangerous city. Arwin enters the labyrinth to restore her homeland. Matthew waits outside with a glass in hand.

The series holds a shared secret between the two that no one else knows and that defines the true nature of their relationship. The teaser poses the question driving the story: whether this twisted bond will lead them to a bright future or a tragedy in between.

Voice Cast

Junichi Suwabe as Matthew. (Grimmjow Jaegerjaquez in Bleach and Daiki Aomine in Kuroko no Basket).

Mikako Komatsu as Arwin. (Seishiro Nishizumi in Girls und Panzer and Neko in K).

About The Kept Man of the Princess Knight

The Kept Man of the Princess Knight (Hime Kishi no Himo) is a fantasy story built around a role reversal that goes beyond comedy: the knight works, fights, and financially supports the relationship, while her partner appears to do nothing useful and earns the mockery of those around them, who call him “Spark,” a useless man with a sharp tongue. The tension between this public image and the secret binding them gives the series depth beneath its humor.

Does the dynamic between Arwin and Matthew seem like a fresh twist in the labyrinth fantasy genre, or do you need to see more of the anime to decide?
