Japanese game studio TECOPARK revealed on June 1 that it will cease distributing its multiplayer puzzle game Pico Park: Classic Edition on Steam. Originally released as a paid game in 2016, it has been available without charge on the platform since 2025, as noted here. The developer stated that maintaining a free distribution model was not sustainable long-term, leading to the decision to permanently withdraw the title from Steam soon.

Existing players will still be able to enjoy the game, and TECOPARK encourages interested users to download it before its removal from Steam. The specific departure date has not yet been announced.
The shift to a free model for Pico Park: Classic Edition originated from an unexpected development. In 2025, the game received its first update in nine years, introducing online multiplayer features. To celebrate this milestone, the developer planned a temporary free giveaway on Steam. However, because this marked the second instance of changing the gameβs price from paid to freeβthe first occurring in 2021 with Pico Park (the definitive edition)βSteamβs policies rendered the free status permanent.

Despite Pico Park: Classic Editionβs impending departure, Pico Park (2021) remains purchasable on Steam and Nintendo Switch. Additionally, the sequel, Pico Park 2, is accessible on PC (Windows, Steam), Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
