Japanese developer Citales Games has revealed that its forthcoming single-player action game, Witch the Showdown, will debut in Early Access on Steam during the latter half of 2026. The game’s demo, already available, has received an update featuring a new playable character and additional content. The full release is scheduled for 2027 across PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X❘S platforms.

Witch the Showdown is a high-speed parry-based action game that integrates strategic deckbuilding elements. Set in a near-future world where magic and technology intertwine, players compete in a martial arts tournament aiming to claim the championship title. You’ll join the tournament as one of several combatants known as “Witches,” with nearly every opponent presenting a boss-level challenge.

Combat centers on parrying enemy strikes to accumulate mana, which can then be used to trigger cards. These cards vary in attributes and effects, ranging from direct attacks and healing abilities to those that inflict bonus damage under specific conditions or provide buffs and special effects. Additionally, players can unleash burst effects to initiate relentless offensive onslaughts.

Between battles, players engage in a phase reminiscent of a board game for deckbuilding. Here, you can bolster your Witch through interactions with other tournament participants, acquire cards and accessories from shops, and tailor your deck to your strategy.

Witch the Showdown offers five difficulty settings and includes a Duel Mode for swift battles with preset decks, as well as a roguelike Tournament Mode where you face consecutive battles and enhance your capabilities based on what you obtain after each session.

In tandem with Steam Next Fest, the developers have enhanced Witch the Showdown’s demo by introducing the new playable character Neon, available for a limited period. The demo now also features a fresh turn-based mode that slows the game’s pace, enabling more tactical gameplay. Compared to the demo, the upcoming Early Access version will deliver additional fighters, more story content, and new cards to explore.

Witch the Showdown is slated for a 2027 release on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X❘S.
