Toei has introduced Arainami T081, an anime-inspired mascot that embodies the iconic movie opening sequence featured at the start of Toei-distributed films (the intro showcases the company logo alongside waves crashing against rocks).

The character made its debut on October 8, celebrated as “Toei Day,” as part of the fresh Toei Arainami Project branding initiative. The reason behind selecting October 8 (10/8) as Toei Day is that the numbers “10” and “8” can be pronounced as “To-ei” in Japanese. This linguistic connection is also reflected in Arainami’s name, where the digits 1, 0, and 8 are used to spell “TOEI” (T081).

Arainami T081 was brought to life by Ryosuke Takeuchi, an artist known for his work on beloved franchises like Pokémon, Monster Hunter, and One Piece. The artist seamlessly integrated the opening sequence’s waves into the character’s hairstyle, while Toei’s triangular logo is subtly represented through the character’s bracelet, earrings, and eyes (the complete logo is also visible on Arainami T081’s cap).

Although the Toei Aranami Project has previously explored various designs inspired by waves and the company logo, this marks the first time they are launching merchandise featuring an official anime-style mascot.
