Following a brief announcement in April directing followers to anticipate a release date declaration from Shuseisha, the mastermind behind Hunter x Hunter, Yoshihiro Togashi, has once again provided a fresh manga update. His most recent X post reveals the finalized manuscript for chapter 421, securely sealed and prepared for delivery to Shonen Jump, indicating that eleven Hunter x Hunter chapters are now in the publisher’s possession.

Post translation: No. 421, manuscript completed. My temporary tooth has cracked.

The Hunter x Hunter manga has a history of extended breaks, largely due to Togashi’s health issues. Its most recent installment, chapter 410, hit shelves on December 9, 2024, which means fans have been without new story content for nearly a year and a half. There’s even a dedicated webpage tracking the series’ numerous hiatus periods.

Some readers may question why Togashi is sharing a chapter 421 update at this time, especially since his April post referenced inking for chapter 430. Inking, which involves finalizing sketches, is typically a later stage in manga production, and several additional steps are needed before a manuscript is fully ready for submission. It appears Togashi is juggling multiple Hunter x Hunter chapters simultaneously, which has fans more hyped than usual. His latest X update has garnered over 127k Likes and 16K reposts, with many followers anticipating the series’ return with bated breath.
