TOHO has just proven otherwise if you thought Godzilla’s return to postwar Japan couldn’t get more intense. The company released the final trailer for Godzilla Minus Zero, the direct sequel to the cinematic phenomenon that dominated box office and global critics, making it clear that the danger is just beginning.

The story takes us to 1949, exactly two years after the traumatic events seen in the previous installment. For this new phase of the conflict, the production confirmed the inclusion of actor Min Tanaka portraying biologist Kanji Murakami, who joins the fight to try and understand the creature’s behavior.

The main cast will retain its key figures, highlighting the return of Ryunosuke Kamiki as Koichi Shikishima and Minami Hamabe as Noriko Oishi. Alongside them, fundamental faces like Hidetaka Yoshioka as Noda, Yuki Yamada as Shiro Mizushima, Kuranosuke Sasaki as Seiji Akitsu, Sakura Ando as Sumiko Ota, and Mio Tanaka as Tatsuo Hotta return.

Behind the scenes, talented Takashi Yamazaki once again takes absolute leadership of the project as director, screenwriter, and visual effects supervisor. The music will again feature compositions by Naoki Sato, while production is handled by ROBOT and TOHO Studios, supported by the impeccable animation and effects work of Shirogumi Inc. The official theatrical release in Japan is scheduled for November 3, coinciding intentionally with Godzilla Day celebrations.

Godzilla is one of the most iconic and influential cinematic franchises in pop culture history, originally born in 1954 under the TOHO production banner. Its previous installment, Godzilla Minus One, became a historic milestone after surpassing $116 million at the worldwide box office and winning the Best Visual Effects award at the ninety-sixth Academy Awards, marking the first time a Japanese film and franchise won a golden statuette.
